First real homemade/apartment-made meal in France

This was the exciting first experience of real home cooking. I made my homemade chicken noodle soup for the first time in France. This is also a little preview pic of my cute LITTLE apartment. Yeh ...so i had to put up some type of art that you see right by my head in the pic. I bought a calendar at a little art shop by my apartment and the artist is a local from St Etienne which is a city close to where i live, which made me happy. I just cut out all of the images and used them separately and voila 12 images to decorate a small apartment



I tried to find whole wheat flour which isn't very common and instead bought what they call flour with cereal. It doesn't actually have cereal in it but does have flax seed and other nuts like sunflower. It actually turned out yummy which i was nervous about since i have never made homemade pasta with nuts in the flour. oh and that glass u see is what i had to use to roll out the dough since i don't have a rolling pin

Here is the final product without celery of course since that doesn't really exist here and everytime i found it when i lived here before it was really expensive. Weird since it is super cheap in the states. I don't think they ever buy it and have never seen a dish with it. Sad since celery is really yummy in shicken noodle soup.

the 1st pair of shoes i bought

Yeh so I guess that my shoe size is gigantic in France and doesn't even exist. So when i finally found shoes that fit I bought them. Needless to say my mother is going to have to send me some of my shoes from home.

This top photo is the beautiful Nicki who i served with in Grenoble France as a missionary, the 2nd is of me. We took it on our way to the train station to get to church. Today we went for the first time to the ward that are going to go to for the 7 months that we are here. The members were all rockstars and we even stayed after for over an hour talking to them. These are the pics that we took on our way to the train station in Tain l'heritage, France. It's hilarious since we take the train for only 10 minutes and then walk for only about 10 to get to the Church building in Valence. So yeh we maybe have been having issues with internet and so we couldn't get the address to the church and so we just walked around in hope that we would find people who were dressed like they were on their way to church and voila a few minutes after walking we ran into 2 missionaries who showed us the way. Unlike Utah there is no way to ask a random french person if they knew where the Church of Jesus Christ is in Valence. First they would have no idea what i was talking aabout and would point me to the closest cathedral, second the building for the members in the region I'm living in is very small and there isn't even a sign on the street for the LDS church. It is in this little mall with a walkway and we would never have found it if we hadn't seen the missionaries. What's that called inspiration.







yeh the reaaon it lookes like I am dressed for winter is the fact that for the past 2 days it has been really cold. My apartment is right by this bridge which is sooo pretty, but there is alot of wind by the bridge so it gets a little crazy when you cross it with no coat on sooo... i already learned my lesson a few nights ago.

yeh so maybe i am the worst ever at keeping up a blog. so here is whats been going on. I finally received my arrete de nomination which tellls me where i am going to be teaching in France. The little village that I am going to be living in is called St Jean de Mozuls.When i looked at images on the internet it didn't look that pretty but the photos did not give the area justice at all. It is sooooooo beautiful in that region. I might live in one of these neighboring villages called Tain l'hermitage or Turnon sur Rhone. A few days ago I went to Tain and Turnon which are only about 20 minutes minutes by foot away from St Jean de Mozuls and it it sooooo pretty. I was trying to figure out where i'm going to be living. I met with a few agencies and looked at some apartments. I am really excited to live in that region. They are reknown for their wine and so there are vineyards everywhere which are so pretty. Even though i do not drink and won't profit by drinking their wine i can profit from the beauty of the vineyards. one of the locals told me that within the next weeks that throughout the region you can smell the grapes. I am excited for that. ok i still have to post my San Fran trip from a few weeks ago
